Core Trading is one of the four key application portfolios in the Trading Technology Department. It is charged with managing and evolving a suite of trading applications that range from an order management system to various trading support applications, which enable trading of various asset classes continuously in global markets.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced technologist to lead as an Application Manager capable of ensuring that a defined business function has the technology and infrastructure it requires to meet the goal of trading excellently.
Responsibilities would include:
• Leading the strategic vision, execution, maintenance, and quality assurance for all applications within that portfolio
• Managing a team that includes both project execution capability (PM, BA, QA) and some development capacity (tech lead, dev), and will be responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle
1. Strategic Vision / Roadmap / Transformation Experience
a. Ability to engage stakeholders to understand business objective(s)
b. Can develop an understanding of the current state with many embedded legacy trading applications
c. Understands competitive landscape, including third-party solutions
d. Proven track record to put all above into context, and the ability to identify gaps between where we are and where we need to be
e. Ability to articulate and evolve an actionable plan, cutting through obstacles and leading the team through ambiguity to achieve end-state goals
2. Management Ability
a. 5+ years of OMS application portfolio management experience, including building an application development team, working with business users, and third-party vendors
b. Excellent written and verbal communication skills – capability to convince people based on reasoning, not solely on experience
c. Can establish a program of projects to achieve necessary portfolio evolution
d. Can ensure project meets the business goals, and has the ability to hold team members accountable and deliver on-time, on-budget projects which are in-line with the quality expectation
3. Technical Skill and Business Knowledge
a. Hands-on experience working with front office trading systems, particularly OMS space
b. Capable of acting as a thought partner and providing oversight to both tech lead on technology front and project manager on project execution front
c. Experience with all stages of SDLC, with the proven ability to drive an idea through to implementation
d. Practical problem decomposition and problem solving
